The Story of One Million Steps

Saturday, December 12th, 2009 by Adriel

So here is the report on this past weekend. Stephen came into the
family late Saturday night up at the peak of the mountain!! God is
so good, and all those prayers were answered!

Calm Before the Storm

I had a meeting with a Christian named Oscar. It was a really cool meeting and we prayed for each other (it was at his prompting actually!). He is interested in our study, but more excitingly, he has a friend who is a student at the university I am at, who very recently came into the family, and who was asking if there was a study he could go to! It’s a perfect setup from Dad.

My Exciting Encounter with a Propane Tank

Saturday, December 12th, 2009 by Adriel

We ran out of gas to cook with
right before we left for Mo’s. When we returned on Sunday my leader
made arrangements to get more, but they said it would come Monday
morning by 11:30. Now this was somewhat risky because we were
planning on making tacos for 15 ppl Monday after our meeting.

$500,000 Fireworks

Wow. I just witnessed an amazing event tonight. You’ve heard the
phrase, everything is bigger in Texas, I’m sure. I would have to
submit that, in fact, everything is biggest in Asia.

In the Spotlight…

Saturday, December 12th, 2009 by Summer

Our friends led me, Tank, Aidan and Sonata around a building where 200-300 people had gathered around a huge stage. They broke out into applause when we walked out. It was the beginning of the English Corner and they decided to begin with a huge party. Only when they led us up to the velvet draped table did I realize that we were sitting front and center. The hosts of the show came on stage and announced the guests of honor for the evening. US!

Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship

Lima opened the door to her dorm room where her and three other girls stay. To say it was small is an understatement. Their beds are pieces of wood with a blanket on top and they have small desks with a few places for storage. The room was small and the bedding was hard, but I felt so honored that she felt comfortable enough to have two foreigners in her room. I love these girls and I am so excited to be able to spend a year of my life with them!

Surprised VIPs

Saturday, December 12th, 2009 by Tank

That is the type of situation we assumed we were being invited to when we were asked to attend the “Little Angel English Corner.” However, when we showed up, we saw a stage and lots of seating. We then signed a guest list and were escorted to the front of the seating area, in the VIP section. It turned out that it wasn’t your run-of-the-mill English corner, but a beginning celebration of the English club—and we were guests of honor!

New Experiences

Saturday, December 12th, 2009 by Aidan

Jacob is a Traditional Asian Medicine student, in his fourth year of a seven-year acupuncture program. When I told him I had been feeling a little under the weather lately, he said that he could fix me up very easily if I wanted to go back to his dorm. I was a little hesitant, but it seemed like a good way to connect with him about things he’s interested in, and I’m always up for a new experience.

God Rocks!

The smells were strange and unpleasant as we walked down the old hotel hallway. There were holes in the wall, and the closer we got to our destination, the louder the music got. My friend and I had been invited to try out for a local college band that is viewed as one of the [...]

Remembering the Purpose

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 by Buckeye

“That’s the craziest thing I have ever seen, man.”

These were the words I told Simba while we were away. We had just climbed a mountain, which may be one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life. The sights that we could see, and places we climbed were just outstanding and truly breathtaking. It seems like I talk about nature and God’s vastness a lot, but that seems to be how He keeps showing me how great He is.
