Saturday, September 18th, 2010 by Clive

***Update/Praise! - We gave that friendly downstairs neighbor some mooncakes and a couple homemade cards to say thank you, and later he came up with his 14-year-old son Jim, who helped me a with my homework and I got to share a little about Yesu (Jesus) with. On Sat, Jim came up to bring us some moon cakes (it IS [...]

Go! Tell it on the Mountain!

Friday, September 17th, 2010 by Joy

It may seem odd, but ever since coming here I’ve had Big Daddy Weave’s version of “Go, Tell it on the Mountain” stuck in my head. Granted, we do live on a mountain and we are here to tell people about Christ, so it only makes sense, right? Well, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing.

Sitting in a Cozy Café

Hello!God has handpicked me and called me to this awesome place!  I get to live in an absolutely beautiful city.  Each day I have the opportunity to walk on a campus that is full of young men and woman who have never heard the Truth.  That’s why I am here!  That is why I am [...]

Searching for the Good Soil

I couldn’t help but hope that Amy was the good soil that would bear fruit. We have connected to her more than any other friend and we seem to see her everywhere.

It could have been worse

I woke up to the sound of voices, two of my coworkers and one national guy. I wondered what was going on, as it was still the middle of the night. Hearing our vent fan running, I thought it must be our neighbor from upstairs complaining about it being left on. I had thought it was a little [...]

How to wash the floors using a washing machine…!

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 by Clive, Uncategorized

“Knock, knock, knock…..”  Wha–what time is it?!  “Knock, knock, knock….”  Alright, coming….! What is that noise?? Is this the guy who complained about our bathroom fan again? WHOA!! Am I getting out of bed or out of a boat?! This was approximately my thought process at about 3am this morning, when, not having been shut off [...]

Would you like to have a competition with us?

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010 by Sheldon

On Thursday Columbo and I met several different people at several different points in the day (playing basketball, just walking up to people randomly) and it turns out one of them is roommates with one of Acorn’s friends, what a small world. We then saw three other people we played basketball with and set up another game with them. This made me very happy. I feel very encouraged about how things are progressing.

Great Expectations

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010 by Atlas

I’ve said it lots of times before; God’s heart beats for the lost. If I was to lay my head upon His chest, I’d hear the quickening sound of “that none should perish.” This message of hope & good news is going to reach the world, with or without me. So why not with me?

A Robot and Some Buddhist Ballers

On the bus ride back to our apartment, I thought about the day. What a clear picture of why we’ve been sent here! We are lights in a dark place. The reality of that was played out on the basketball court that afternoon. While the game was fun, I definitely left campus that day with a greater burden for the people, and an energized sense of God’s heart for the people of this nation.

It only takes a phone call…

Now, this should have been my first indicator that I went wrong, for the stairs were blocked with metal bars and a lock. The hallway led to a locked auditorium. Here I was blocked in with nowhere to go but down, down those stairs that I had quite easily conquested. So, as I made it all the way to the bottom of these stairs I realized that the entrance I was looking for was in another building around the corner. So, what should have been a 5 min walk, ended up being almost 15 min of being lost.
