Magic
With much ambivalence, the holiday season has finally drawn to a close! Our team Christmas party was even larger than its Thanksgiving predecessor. We rented a karaoke party room near the universities with which we’ve been working, and it fit our sixty or more guests comfortably. One of our guests offered to put on a short magic show for our other friends, and we were thrilled to allow him the opportunity to perform. After he dazzled everyone by making a small red ball appear in an audience member’s pocket, we danced to a few songs, played some games, and then shared about the meaning of Christmas. One of our closer friends translated the message into the native language so everyone could understand fully. We had a few guests tell us that they wanted to know more, so we took contact information and told them we would be meeting up with them soon.
The holiday season seemed a little chaotic, but on this side of the New Year, things are going to start calming down significantly. We have a few more weeks here until our retreat to Thailand. We will meet up with other workers there, take part in some speeches, and talk a little about the future of the work being done here.
