Sunday, October 16th, 2011 by McDoogle

I have lived in Asia for over three years now, so I am used to the attention I get while doing the most mundane, average of activities such as walking down the street, or buying a cup of coffee.  I can’t tell you how many times an Asian stranger has asked to take their picture with me…I mean, I do [...]

Remember those times where you felt extra loved by God? Where He seems to go above and beyond specifically for you; in a special, unique and beautiful way?   Last week I was getting all my finances in order.  I had my money and passport set aside so that I can renew my visa.  I [...]

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 by Amilah

My language teacher walked into our classroom yesterday, and without saying anything, we all knew something was wrong.  He struggled through the first two periods of class, trying his best to stay focused on teaching the class.  When the second period was just about over, he stopped everything he was doing and sat down.  He [...]

Transitioning

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011 by Xena

In all honesty at times it has been challenging as I experienced a time of refining. I have endured different trials, times of confusion, doubt, anger and frustration.   This weekend three of my teammates and myself utilized some well-needed vacation time to travel to a city 3 hours to the northwest. In addition to getting out of HB for a few days, we also journeyed with the intention of meeting another worker and his family on the recommendation of the leader of [...]

Amy’s Persecution

Thursday, March 24th, 2011 by Autumn

My friend Amy, a sister from last year, has been persecuted a lot for her faith this semester. When I met her last week, she told me that people have been harassing her for her belief in God, that several people have confronted her, calling her a traitor to her country, and accusing her of [...]

Creative Sharing

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011 by Simba

After I had finished drawing my picture, I noticed the professor’s painting.  We were at a new creative arts club on our campus.  My picture had a Jewish star with a cross through the center of it.  His had these and many more “religious” symbols.  I looked at him and before I could speak, he [...]

Reunions in K-town

Sunday, March 6th, 2011 by Simba

Though feeling a little nervous and insecure about my new language abilities, I decided to call some friends from last year.  I happened to be in K-town, the city where I lived last year,  for some teaching on Asian history.  Here is a brief summary of who I’ll name as “Prophet” and “Kept.”      Prophet is [...]
