Straight To The Point
This update is straight to the point because I have a point to make.
I am pleased to announce that we have a family member and his name is Oliver! Oliver has been one of our closest friends since about October or so. He’s been a regular attendee of our Bible study, he even vowed to read the whole Bible in a month. That didn’t quite happen, but he’s been ferverently plugging away at it. But he had yet to make a personal decision. Well, three days ago, he attended our newly started house party. He began answering the questions of the believers there and when one girl stated that she wanted to be a Christian, he said, “then you have to believe in Jesus!” But he himself hadn’t prayed for it yet. So I sat beside him and he told me now that he believed now, really believed. At first he was afraid that he needed to know it all in order to follow, but has now decided that he knew enough to give his life. So I led him in the prayer of acceptance and then gave him a chance to add something personal.
He proceeded to thank God for the long list of people, ourselves included, who taught him the truth, for without them, he said, he’d be going to hell. If that doesnt’ put it all in perspective, I don’t know what does. Just when you begin to feel the most homesick and your craving to return to mighty taco is at it’s greatest, God likes to drop that bomb on you and remind you of what it’s all about. Oliver has already began sharing the word with his classmates and family. He told me he wants to buy a hundred Bibles for the guys in his dormitory and even wants to prepare a speech for his family that he can share next spring festival (Chinese New Year) so that they may know the way to God. Needless to say, this made my week. I’ll be home in only fourteen days now. Can’t wait to see you then and share more, with unfettered detail.
