As the night came to a close, I thought back on the day. I had met some new friends, got some phone numbers of fellow ping-pongers, and even received some free glow bracelets from a vendor because I was “such an attractive guy.” It was another successful day of making friends and making memories.
Another week has gone by, and time has been flying like always. It’s hard to believe that I’ve already been here for over a month! But our days have been filled with making friends, exploring the city, language lessons, and meeting as a team to encourage each other.
Ping pong! Back home, I was pretty good—average at least. But people here are on a completely different level of ping pong skills.
I laughed out loud as it occurred to me that I was like a child in this country. I couldn’t speak to anyone, read any signs, find my way around, or take care of myself yet. This could be the greatest adventure I’ve ever taken part in!
