Enrisey approached my roommate, Phoenix, at an English Corner. Within two minutes she asked where she could find a Bible, saying she always wanted one and that she was eager to read it.

In Spite of Me

Thursday, September 30th, 2010 by Joy

Derek Levendusky (a speaker and musician) tells a story of a time when he was traveling between two events. He was exhausted, so he prayed, “God, use me, in spite of me.” Immediately he sensed God reply, “Since when have I used you BECAUSE of you?”

It’s so true, isn’t it?

Go! Tell it on the Mountain!

Friday, September 17th, 2010 by Joy

It may seem odd, but ever since coming here I’ve had Big Daddy Weave’s version of “Go, Tell it on the Mountain” stuck in my head. Granted, we do live on a mountain and we are here to tell people about Christ, so it only makes sense, right? Well, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing.

The Highest Room in the Tallest Tower

“I don’t know, maybe the Bible is true. I have heard it is God’s love letter to us. Could we study it together? I am not a Christian yet, but I would love to learn more about what you believe!”

Hello my family, friends, and loved supporters! As you probably noticed, the title of this blog says “Final Email Update”. This is in fact true. My Dad hasn’t been doing well, and as of right now, things are not looking good. I have decided to accept the counsel of those close to me and go [...]

Exploding Fireworks

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 by Joy

The acrid smell that accompanies the fireworks exploding at all hours of the day and night is becoming part of the background everywhere I go. This may not sound fun to you, but Chinese New Year is an experience I wouldn’t trade. Vendors sell fireworks on the sidewalks, and as I watch young people buying [...]

5 Airports, 4 Flights, 28 Hours of Travel, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

Thursday, January 1st, 2009 by Joy

Happy New Year from Asia! I’m safe and sound on the other side of the world after some intense traveling. One situation in particular stands out in my mind… Dismayed, I stood looking at the airline rep that was telling me my second flight of 4 was delayed 4 hours. I needed to be at [...]

I’ll be home for Christmas…

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 by Joy

I'll be home for Chr*stmas… … and not just in my dreams! The Lord has provided for me to go to Buffalo to spend the Christmas holiday with my family. I want to thank you for thinking of my family and this situation, and give a huge hug to each one of you that made [...]

An Unforgettable Night

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 by Joy

As we were sitting at dinner tonight, Cherry was commenting on our exciting Christmas parties coming up, and she said “I feel like this Christmas will be an unforgettable one!” At that point we had just no idea how unforgettable, but I breathed a quick word of prayer that she would come to know Dad [...]
