A Bad Day

It had not been the best week for me in Asia. I had been very homesick, realized that I
bought the wrong phone card, got lost….
“How many more steps?” I asked as my stomach began to cramp up. Our team wanted to do an outing with some friends, so we decided to travel…
I began to wildly slap the cockroach with the broom. I can’t even imagine what I looked like running around my apartment
swinging a broom around. You will be glad to know that even though it was a tough battle, victory was mine!
Sean became a Christian last year and his faith has continued to grow in the Father. His passion and love for the Lord completely blows me away.
If anything could encourage you to keep pressing in, it would be Sean. He is an example of why I am here, and why you are furthering the kingdom through prayer and support. God is doing great things here, and we get to be a part of it!
Hundreds of paper lanterns glowed in the field as people were gathering around for the Fall Festival. After people wrote wishes in the lanterns, the lanterns were released and slowly drifted up to the sky. The full moon was bright, but the lanterns seemed to light up the sky like colored stars in different shapes and sizes. The scene nearly took my breath away.
I took the gift and almost started to cry. It was one of my favorite moments of my Asia adventure so far, as I began to see the close relationships that God is beginning to form.
It is to my amazement that even when I feel like I am inadequate and not doing enough, God shows me that it isn’t about me and it is DEFINITELY is not my doing!
“Have you ever heard Celine Dion?” Right away I knew this question was going to lead somewhere I did not want it to go. “Uh… yes?” a group of girls all clapped their hands and cheered for me to sing until finally I gave in.
I have officially been in Asia for over a week and just when I think I have experienced it all, I climb on a motorcycle taxi and go for a ride. This week has been absolutely crazy and full of unexpected twists and turns.
Here I was completely lost in a city of 18 million with only one other American girl. As the man in front of me tried to give me directions to the nearest bus station without knowing a single word of English, and I not understanding a single word he was saying, I thought to myself “Welcome to China.”
