Going to Asia
And then it happens. You are on a plane headed to Asia where you will spend the year being used by God to change destinies. You’ll travel with the whole team by bus to NYC, and leave from there. We’ll work together once you arrive to help you rent apartments and get settled. Then everything you’ve been preparing for begins in earnest — life will never be the same again!
Making Friends
While the idea of going out and finding Asian college students to be friends with can seem daunting, its really much easier than you might think. Once your team picks a campus to focus on, you’ll spend time being in the right places at the right time. There aren’t many “westerners” where we go, so you’re immediately popular on that basis alone. Plus, you want to be friends with them. The students will be blown away by your sincerity and interest.
Hey Friend, Meet Jesus
Its amazing how quickly conversations become life change opportunities to share the gospel with your friends. Sometimes your friends will shock you by asking you about your faith out of the blue. Other times you will need to take your time and consistently show God’s love to them through your friendship.
Christmastime
The holidays take on a whole new meaning in Asia. Since they don’t celebrate Christmas in the same way that we do, this becomes an opportunity to share not only some of our customs, but also the truth of the greatest gift ever given– Jesus! Lots of students make the decision to believe in Christ at these Christmas Parties.
Relaxation!
Just after Christmas all of the teams from across Asia travel to a warm and beautiful location for a mid-year retreat. After four months of going at full speed, this is a great opportunity to be refreshed and to recharge and for the rest of the year. Look forward to warm weather, down time, extreme pool sports, encouragement and teaching!
Raising Up Believers
This is it! You’ve met them, shown them real friendship, shared life changing truth with them, and seen them come to the point of believing in Jesus. Now you have the privilege of walking with them as they learn what following Jesus is all about. You’ll teach them all about talking to God, reading their Bible, becoming more like Christ, leaving behind fear and slavery to sin, and walking out the call on their life by our Father’s grace. For the second half of the year you invest in raising up world-changer disciples! You actually get to reproduce your heart to serve Jesus in them!
