Travel & Timing

What is the time frame? Is August the only open window?
We send the whole team over at the beginning of the school year. This is for a number of reasons. First, we want to be in Asia for the entire school year so we have the most time together with our friends for ministry. Second, we provide an in-depth, two week training event in August that would be impossible for us to duplicate at multiple times during the year.

You will report to Campus Target at the beginning of August, spend two weeks in training, and spend the school year in Asia. You will return to the States at the very end of May. Also, there is a mandatory training event in April before you leave.

What kind of visa will I need?
The Campus Target system is unique because you will travel on a tourist visa for the whole year. There are some ins and outs to working with tourist visas; we’ll give you all the details after you’re accepted.
Can I travel during my time over there?
Absolutely! As you will be a tourist in the eyes of the government, it’s certainly a good thing to travel as much as you can. You will have many opportunities between sightseeing, visiting other missionaries in distant villages, and traveling with your Asian friends during the holidays.
Are we allowed to go home during the year?
We do not encourage our team members to go home for a visit during the school year. Not only is this rather expensive – upwards of $1,500 for the additional plane ticket – but more importantly, it will interfere with the friendships you have been working so hard to develop. That being said, if you or a family member has an emergency during the year, it should not a problem to get your return flight switched to an earlier date to get you home.
