I never knew pizza could be so satisfying.  After a little over a week of Asian food, I saved up enough money to get pizza tonight.  Chicken, onions, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese…  I don’t know if I have ever felt more content than right now!

Today has been an interesting day.  This morning I went to sign on an apartment, but then found out that it isn’t actually available.  Then I went to an Asian department store to help Sydney shop for her apartment (a totally different experience from any department store I’ve been to in the states – SO many people!), which made me rather tired.  I had my first couple of experiences with pickpockets on buses today, too.  Cozy: 2, Pickpockets: 0!  I also climbed about a million stairs touring two apartments it turns out we’re not going to rent.  But, man, that pizza was fantastic!

Getting used to Asian culture is difficult for me right now.  Everything is just SO different – even the flow of traffic is not the same as it is in the States.  My body is still getting used to the time zone, altitude, and food, and my mind is trying to grasp the culture.  I’m out of my hotel but still don’t have an apartment, so I’m staying with Buttercup and Sydney until we find a place for Duke and me.  So that adds to everything I’m going through right now.  But I’m trying to see it all as an opportunity for God to make me into the person I’m becoming.  I’ve been thinking of James 1:2-4, which says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance, and perseverance must continue its work so that you may become mature and complete, not lacking anything.”  Being complete in God sounds great, so I will try that much harder to keep relying on Him!

Thank you all for your thoughts (to God) about me so far!  Please keep thinking of me and the adjustments I’m making, and also about my apartment situation.  Be thinking of all the CT workers, as they’re also preparing for what Dad has set for them to do this year.  I look forward to seeing the results, and I’ll definitely keep you updated!

Have a really great week!
