“Ok, guys. We have about 5 minutes.” I gave the warning to the short-term missions team from another country who had come for the week, that we should get ready for the next thing on their agenda. So far they had spent the day on the campus where I work, prayer-walking and then making friends. Two of their friends, a boyfriend- girlfriend pair, hung out with them most of the afternoon and then went out to dinner with us. Once the prepared food dishes started to arrive, I suggested we pray and ask God to bless the food.

Throughout the meal conversation buzzed lively…I had not a clue what they were talking about (because it was in the native language), but everyone seemed to be having a good time. I was impressed with this team…they were a bunch of 18, 19, 20-year-olds who were on a missions trip for a little over a week, coming into this country to help bring in the harvest!

“Uh, Dove?” My thoughts were interrupted. Jason, one of the teens, seemed to be struggling with a question he wanted to ask.

“He wants to become a Christian.” Jason looked at me, asking if we had enough time before they needed to go. Trying to hold back my own excitement, I assured him we could stay longer while he prayed with the friend he had made just that day.

After leading his friend in a prayer to ask Jesus into his life, Jason asked his friend if he could pray for him. Immediately, Jason laid hands on his new brother in the Lord and started speaking in tongues as he waited for a word from the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God fell in the room! Adelin, a girl from the short-term team, prayed with the guy’s girlfriend, and she also received Jesus as her Savior!

I asked the guy how he felt after he asked Jesus into his life, and he said, “Comfortable. Smooth.”

“Peaceful?” I asked.

“Yeah, that’s how to describe it,” another person spoke up.

God is working on our campus!
