On June 8th the interns God has entrusted to us descended on New York, and the next morning we huddled in a room and talked about our dreams for these next ten months. I read from an intro letter I had written: “Together we’re embarking on a 10-month journey that will be marked by incredible growth, some serious team bonding, and potent passion for Jesus and the mission He’s brought us together to accomplish. We’re going to do hard things. We’re going to pray with great faith. We’re going to persevere when it seems like nothing’s happening. Together we’re going to move the ball down the field in many areas of our lives.” One girl said she was believing for personal healing and growth. We talked about getting fully funded to be set up to succeed long term in Asia. It was a fantastic time of dreaming together!
The next three weeks were full of Support Raising training, personality discovery, and setting growth goals. Near the end of June our eight interns headed to their homes to raise support until they return on July 20. (The main goal of the first four months of the internship is for each person to raise monthly support that will sustain them over the next years of ministry.) God has been doing great things! One guy raised $250/mo in his first face-to-face meeting with a generous couple. One girl shared during the first week that each of the people she had met with said they would like to join her team. Another guy who desperately needed a laptop was given one. Several have been growing and persevering in tough family situations. Praise God with us for what He’s doing!
