Only 3 weeks from today I will be on a plane headed with my team to spend three months in Asia spreading the good news to college students. I have begun the process of packing for this tip by making a list of everything I need to bring. Every packing list includes the essential items like toothpaste, a toothbrush, underwear, shoes, and enough clothes to wear for different weather conditions among others.
In order to survive the attacks of the devil there are certain essentials we need to keep with us at all times. In Ephesians 6:10-18, Paul talks about the essential tools that we have at our disposal as believers. If I were to go about my Christian life and forget the helmet of salvation, my ability to witness effectively is diminished since I no longer walk in confidence for what Christ did for me. If I don’t hold onto the shield of faith, what purpose does my life really serve?
Even if you have read the passage in Ephesians 6 about the armor of God, I encourage you to revisit those verses and meditate on them. Are you carrying the full armor of God with you daily? Are you ready to stand against the attacks of the evil one, our enemy the devil?
