Olive Oyl didn’t hear her phone ring and I couldn’t answer it in time. Then, as soon as her phone stopped ringing someone from the same number called my phone. I didn’t recognize the number but it was clear someone was trying to reach us.
When I answered I was shocked to hear a realtor hoping to come see our home with their clients! We were both stunned! Our home was listed for sale just hours before!
Our home hit the market at 1:00 am on Monday morning. We figured by the weekend we would have a showing or two. However, just hours after listing we officially had our first request for a showing!
And then the phone rang again… and again…and again…
In the end, we had about 20 calls asking for a showing!
For weeks we worked hard getting the house ready to sell. We prayed about it everyday too. We recognized that selling our house was a big step in returning to the mission field.
In the end, we accepted a great offer (!) and have been slowly working through all the steps of closing on the sale.
Thats right! If you haven’t heard- we sold our house!
Selling our house was one of the three big steps we had to take before we could return to Asia to continue sharing the gospel with our friends on the university campuses.
As I mentioned above, we have both identified three “steps” that we had to take before returning to Asia.
Step 1: Surround Olive Oyl with the best medical care possible during her pregnancy. Obviously we crossed this bridge already. Olive Oyl’s pregnancy and delivery went incredible well and our daughter is growing like crazy. She may be the happiest baby I have ever known. 🙂
Step 2: Sell our home. As mentioned above, we sold our house and we hope to turn over the keys in about a month!
Step 3: Raise Support. Raising support is our last step. It is the final step we take before returning to Asia. We aren’t done yet but we are half-way there (!) and hope to finish building our support team quickly so that we can go share the good news with our friends and students overseas!
Our financial support team is comprised of people who simply want to get involved with what God is doing in Asia. They are without a doubt directly connected to people hearing about Jesus. Look at how Paul connects the dots:
13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? ” (Romans 10:13-15, emphasis added).
